A rosato of sorts, Chiaretto is a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot from the Crucella plots and Malvasia di Candia from the Pietre and Cerreto plots, direct-pressed into steel to co-ferment and then given a six-month rest before bottling the following spring with no additions. As you might expect, the wine melds a little of the other wines' character into something intriguing and new: crunchy red berry and fleshy stone fruits mix with a floral, smoke-tinged aromatic lift. A gorgeous golden pastel pink in the glass and with characteristic delicacy, this is a wine for new-season sunshine that will keep you reaching for another glass.
