From three hectares of vines planted on a steep slope, hidden amongst woodlands, high in the hills of Fleurie. Cayenne comes from forty year old vines grown over basalt - the volcanic soils play an important part in keeping Cayenne, even with this hot vintage, alive, fragrant and on its feet.
Last year’s was a particularly warm, dry vintage in these parts, a story that is becoming all too common and one that threatens the very identity of the wines we love from this part of the world. The plus was that Julie was able to harvest plenty of ripe, healthy grapes and fill her cellar for the first time in many years.
