New(ish) producer to the UK, Yannicks wines really wowed us recently. Gaining experience from work alongside the likes of Patrick Meyer, Phillipe Pacalet and Clementine and Gianmarco of Le Coste, as well as spending time learning the art of sake in Japan alongside the brilliant Terada Honke. Whilst their diverse influences are writ large across his work, Yannick is very much forging his own path.
A blend of equal parts of Traminer and Gewürztraminer, the former macerated as whole bunches for almost a month before ageing in earthenware jars, the latter macerated as whole bunches for around a fortnight, before a year of élevage. A gorgeous shade of sunset, this offers heady notes of red papaya and rose, while the palate is all pith and spice. A wine of wonderful texture and perfume, this is as invigorating as they come.
